Securing our Future - the $2 Million Challenge Campaign

Lyell B. Clay, a loyal YWCA supporter, was a visionary with his $2 million challenge matching gift. He realized the important role the YWCA plays in the greater Kanawha Valley and wanted to see the organization sustain its important social service role in the community for many years to come.  Therefore, Mr. Clay issued a challenge to the YWCA to endow its social servie programs. He offered a $2 million gift if the YWCA could match those funds.

We are well on our way to meeting Mr. Clay's challenge. To date, we have raised more than $1.5 million toward the match. With your help, we will make our goal by Dec. 31, 2009.

Why does the YWCA want to raise this money?
YWCA clients are encouraged to become self-sufficient and financially stable. The YWCA believes in modeling its advice to our clients and therefore has launched a campaign to become more self-sufficient and less financially reliant on vulnerable government funds.

Who is leading the $2 Million Challenge?
YWCA Board of Directors members and community leaders have joined together to organized this fundraising intiative. Elizabeth Pellegrin and Freddy Davis are leading the $2 Million Challenge Campaign Committee.

$2 Million + Your Help = $4 Million
You can share in Mr. Clay's vision for the future of the YWCA and contribute to the $2 Million Challenge campaign today. Your gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar and will ensure that the YWCA continues to deliver the critical social service programs to thousands annually in Kanawha, Clay and Boone counties.
