The Shanklin Center for Senior Enrichment and Empowerment Homes for Women offers a unique solution for elderly individuals who have experienced abuse and become homeless.

This specialized facility provides:

  • Permanent, Affordable Housing: Independent-living apartments are designed to be accessible for seniors with disabilities. Residents contribute a portion of their income towards living costs, with the remainder subsidized.

  • Comprehensive Support Services: Case management and support programs are available to help seniors address their physical, emotional, and financial challenges.

  • Pioneering Initiative: Our Shanklin Center is the first facility of its kind in West Virginia, and demonstrates a commitment to providing safe and supportive housing for abused seniors.

By offering a combination of affordable housing and essential support services, the Shanklin Center provides a vital lifeline for elderly individuals who have been victimized.

Our Alicia McCormick Homes provide a vital lifeline for women and children who have experienced homelessness due to domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, or stalking.

This innovative program offers:

Safe and Stable Housing: Ten transitional housing apartments provide a secure living environment for families.

Long-Term Support: Residents receive up to 24 months of housing and support services to help them rebuild their lives.

Community Leadership: The YWCA Alicia McCormick Homes are the first transitional housing program of their kind in the Kanawha Valley, addressing a critical need in the community.

By offering a combination of housing and comprehensive support, Alicia McCormick Homes empowers women and children to overcome adversity and achieve self-sufficiency.

The program is supported by revenue generated by the YWCA's Past & Present Gently Used Clothing Store, ensuring its long-term sustainability.
